Sergio García finished Friday’s Moto2 practice for the French Grand Prix with a new category record lap at Le Mans. With this, he led the afternoon session.
In the initial flying laps, three riders took turns leading the session: Fermín Aldeguer (Folladore SpeedUp/Boscoscuro), his teammate Alonso López, and García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), who then reinforced his position until being overtaken by López.
The fastest rider from the morning FP1 held the lead for over 20 minutes until being overtaken by Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex). However, Roberts’ time at the top was much shorter.
About six minutes later, he was beaten by Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex). But, with five minutes remaining, García ultimately set the fastest lap in 1m35.473s – marking a new category record for the circuit.
López came close, trailing by just 0.076s, followed by Aldeguer and González. Roberts closed the top five, 0.310s off the top. Jorge Navarro was called in last minute to replace the injured Álex Escrig in the Klint Forward team but did not participate in this session.
