Sergio Pérez’s difficult moment continues. Yesterday, the Red Bull man could only manage ninth place in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix, although he was less than a tenth of a second behind teammate Max Verstappen.
The Mexican driver reported difficulties with the car in a session where hundredths of a second made the difference: ‘It wasn’t an easy qualifying. I had difficulties with the balance from low speed to high speed, especially at low speed. We made some changes that probably didn’t help us the way we thought. The margins were so tight that a tenth of a second would have made the qualifying different, but we’re on the wrong side’.
Anticipating different weather conditions on Saturday, Pérez is determined to improve compared to yesterday: ‘Hopefully on Saturday we’ll have a better Sprint Shootout and manage to score some points. We expect some changes in the conditions, there will be a lot of wind’.
