Suzuki has urged all owners of the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE in the UK to stop riding their bikes immediately due to a defect in the rear tyre Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour OE.
The Hamamatsu-based manufacturer issued a statement saying: ‘Customer safety and satisfaction is Suzuki GB’s utmost priority, and owners of affected units will be contacted from today [Friday 26 July] and directed to cease riding activity until replacement tyres have been fitted by an authorised Suzuki dealership’.
The problem may affect 304 bikes in the UK. Affected owners will receive two replacement tyres. Those who have already replaced the tyres can be reimbursed for the cost of the tyres and fitting.
New registrations and deliveries are on hold, but Suzuki is offering a courtesy bike to those who have already placed an order until the recall is completed and the issue is resolved. There is no impact on the other V-Strom model – the 1050DE.
