Rumors are intensifying that link Aleix Espargaró to Honda as a test rider for MotoGP in 2025. The rider recently announced his retirement from racing but has not disclosed his future plans.
Becoming a test rider was one possibility Espargaró mentioned, even admitting he might not stay with Aprilia. The increasing rumors suggest he is headed to Honda, where Stefan Bradl currently holds the test rider position.
In the official MotoGP broadcast, commentator Matt Birt brought up the topic again: ‘It does seem that Aleix Espargaró has agreed to become the new HRC official test and development rider’.
Matt Birt also highlighted the value Espargaró would bring to Honda: ‘He brings a wealth of experience. Of course he has helped and has been influencing steering Aprilia from the mid-pack and the back of the grid to a consistent race winning contender. So quite an astute signing potentially by HRC’.
