The end of the season was challenging for the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team, but the structure moving to Trackhouse Racing was encouraged for 2024. Team manager Wilco Zeelenberg discussed the turbulent times but also praised rider Raúl Fernández.
In a column on the Racesport.nl website, the Dutchman didn’t hide that the situation leading to RNF’s exit from the championship was particularly complex:
– I can say it was the most turbulent period I’ve had in my entire career as a team manager. Everyone was certainly aware of what was happening, and of course, there were many questions about which I couldn’t say anything during the season. Everything happened abruptly. We are still finalizing everything related to RNF and transferring the equipment; the contracts with Trackhouse are also clear. This means that everything is a bit clearer, and we have already managed to confirm the events that will take place in winter, booking flights, hotels, etc. Americans want to see something of their own, having an American team in MotoGP works better than just seeing foreign riders and teams.
Regarding the Valencia tests, Zeelenberg praised Fernández’s performance: ‘We didn’t have many moments to be really pleased with the sports performance in 2023, but thanks to Raúl Fernández’s development, finally, we managed to end the year on a positive note’.
He continued: ‘Raúl was among the top riders all day and rode consistently. This doesn’t mean that we will be at the front next year because Valencia is a special track, and the competition doesn’t stay still, especially on longer circuits. The Ducatis will continue to be tough to beat’.
