Enea Bastianini was one of the fastest riders in the MotoGP tests at Losail. The Ducati rider finished second on the timesheets, just behind his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who was 0.120s faster.
The #23 told reporters that he was pleased with the test but acknowledged the need for improvement and the existence of some issues: ‘I didn’t feel bad. I’m happy with the time attack, but also with the work done during the Sprint race [simulation], the long run. We have improved from Monday, but we also have to improve a little bit because at the moment Pecco has something more compared to all other riders and we have to check better the data. The main problem on Tuesday was a little bit the chatter behind and also a little bit the drop of the front [tyre] after some laps. For the rest the lap time was already good, but at the moment we are not at 100%’.
Regarding the issue of vibrations, which had also affected other Ducati riders like Álex Márquez (Gresini) or Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac) in the past, Bastianini replied: ‘For me no. I also asked Álex, but well… it comes especially with the medium tyre, with the soft was better during the time attack. But I think we can solve the problem for the race. Let’s see’.
The Italian further explained: ‘In the entry, when you make the maximum angle, in that part we have some chatter. For my riding style is not a big problem, but if we can solve it a little bit we can improve more’.
