Velocifero is a small Italian company specializing in scooters and small-cylinder motorcycles. It recently entered the world of electric motorcycles and we’ve already talked about some of its innovations, with the Race-X being one of the most interesting to be unveiled at EICMA 2023. The brand also has a new electric scooter aimed at the more stylish city user.
It’s called the Tennis-E and takes the form of a retro-inspired scooter. The Tennis-E is based on the Tennis 125 gasoline scooter, but swaps the internal combustion engine for an electric motor for a silent, emission-free ride.
From a styling point of view, the Tennis-E has a minimalist exterior accentuated by a flowing fairing. This scooter has a retro look, with a front mudguard and wheel covers in the color of the fairing. There are, however, modern touches incorporated into the design, such as a dual-optic headlight and full LED DRLs.
Powering this compact and charming scooter is a permanent magnet motor housed in the rear wheel. It pumps out three kilowatts of nominal power and peaks at five kilowatts, or around 6.7 horsepower, which puts it on the same performance level as a 125 cc gasoline scooter. It is, however, differentiated in terms of torque, with Velocifero claiming an impressive 175 Nm of torque from this electric motor. The Tennis-E offers its rider three driving modes, Eco, Comfort and Sport, and has a top speed of 85 km/h.
As for the power source, the Velocifero Tennis-E has two removable lithium-ion batteries with a combined capacity of 2.99 kilowatt hours. Each battery weighs 10 kg, so riders have the option of saving weight and using just one battery on shorter journeys. The batteries can be fully charged in around four hours and, combined, provide 80 km of range on a single charge.
As far as prices and availability are concerned, the Italian brand has not yet announced any information about the new Tennis-E, however, it is expected to arrive in European dealerships in time for spring, in March 2024.
