The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League recently gained significant prestige by starting in the front position at the Indy 500. This achievement is not unfamiliar to Team Penske and its IndyCar drivers, as they have had numerous experiences with it over the years. Scott McLaughlin, the latest driver to accomplish this feat, set a new record for the fastest four-lap average in qualifying, surpassing his teammates Will Power and Josef Newgarden. This makes McLaughlin the first of the current trio from Team Penske to secure the pole position for the race.
On the other hand, Marcus Ericsson, the winner of the 2022 Indy 500, faced a thrilling Bump Day but managed to secure a spot on this year’s grid. Unfortunately, Dale Coyne Racing rookie Nolan Siegel ended up being excluded from the starting grid, leaving the field with a total of 33 cars.
