Joan Mir will test the prototype of the Honda RC213V for 2024 during the MotoGP Japanese GP, but Marc Márquez will stick with the current version of the bike, unlike his Repsol Honda teammate.
The six-time world champion in the premier class explained in a press conference that he didn’t like what he tested in Misano: ‘I know that Joan will ride with the 2024 prototype chassis. I won’t at the moment because in Misano I don’t feel… maybe some positives, maybe some negatives. Maybe here can be positive because it’s a lot of stop-and-go and that bike was good for that. But I believe that the proto bike, the way to ride for a season, it’s not the way to go’.
Márquez prefers to focus on the material he currently has: ‘For me has no meaning to make one race with one chassis, the other race with another chassis. I’m just focusing with what I have. I will try a few small things that Honda requested me. So I keep going with what I feel and what I believe’.
