A heavy crash at the beginning of the first day caused Raúl Fernández to lose the MotoGP tests at Sepang. Thus, this week’s tests in Qatar will be even more important for the Spaniard to prepare himself before the season.
The Trackhouse Racing’s rider highlighted that importance that the two days in Losail will have: ‘Honestly the test is important, we lost three important days in Sepang. Also now I can say I’m really happy to have the old bike, because I did the test in Valencia and I felt really good with the bike. I did three laps, but in three laps I felt again good with the bike in Sepang. The base set-up we have, I think we don’t have to change too much. This test is just to feel how is the leg, first of all, and then to take again some good feeling’.
Fernández then mentioned his priorities: ‘For me the most important is to get again this mind speed, because it’s not easy. You can try at your home with a road bike, but it’s not the same. That is important, and try to feel how I am with physically because this winter I changed a little bit the work. During this year I felt much better, but if you don’t jump on the bike you don’t know really well. So that is important for me because then I will have three weeks to recover and try to get a little bit of information. But not to do anything stupid and to do a lot of laps’.
