Danilo Petrucci started the World Superbike season with a podium in the second race at Phillip Island – he finished third and was the best rider from an independent team.
It was a result that the Italian from the Barni Spark Racing Team had to fight for until the last meters. Speaking to the championship’s official website, Petrucci highlighted this balance, which doesn’t make the task any easier for the riders:
– In this championship, especially this year, you can finish 15th or third. I was so upset but as I’ve said many times in pre-season, I think there are 12 to 15 riders who can stand on the podium, and this is really good for the championship. It’s really exciting and fun to watch, but for us, it’s really tough because we are so close!
