Honda is working on various aspects of the RC213V to develop the bike and restore its competitiveness after recent years’ decline. The engine is one of the key areas being addressed.
Currently, a new engine is being prepared, and the riders believe it has good potential – as Joan Mir has already stated, although he thinks it still needs improvement. When asked if the new engine is a step in the right direction and just needs further development, the Majorcan rider confirmed:
– There is a lot more margin with that engine. So it makes sense to do more kilometers with that, and when we receive that upgrade we will make a good step, I’m sure.
MotoGP is now on a short break until the end of June, providing teams and manufacturers some time to do more work and find solutions. The season will resume with the Dutch GP.
At the moment, Mir is in 18th place in the championship with 13 points, and despite his three retirements, he is the highest-ranked Honda rider.
