Fabio Quartararo had a challenging Saturday in Motegi. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider, along with the team, struggled to be competitive, finishing 14th in qualifying and 15th in the sprint race.
Regarding the race, the French rider explained to the press that an incorrect line after the start compromised his performance: ‘Unfortunatly I made a great start, but I didn’t chose the right line, losing some positions. And then behind some some riders we couldn’t make anything with the pace. So, unfortunatly we were super slow’.
When asked about what led to the poor result in Q1, Quartararo explained that there was nothing out of the ordinary: ‘Nothing. This is our potential now. This is our potential, we have no turning, no power, no downforce, nothing. So, if you want to really try to get into the Q2 you have to break over the limit. And braking over the limit you make a lot of mistakes. In the second time attack I just tried to brake much more late, but I arrived to one corner where I made a mistake and I couldn’t improve. But it’s the only way to try to make a correct lap time’.
