Jorge Martín returned to victory at the French MotoGP Grand Prix, dominating the entire weekend. The Prima Pramac rider was ecstatic after winning on Sunday at Le Mans, and in the celebrations, still on the bike, he even damaged the helmet and windscreen of the motorcycle.
In the press conference, the current championship leader stated: ‘To do the record, win the Sprint and Sunday’s race is really difficult, so I was telling myself: «Who’s the number one?! Who’s the number one?!». I feel this weekend I was the number one, absolutely. So I’m really happy about this’.
For Martín, the victory was particularly special as he battled directly against two MotoGP world champions: ‘To beat Marc and Pecco, I think it’s crazy. They are amazing champions, I’m not a MotoGP champion yet, so for me it’s incredible, and I’m really happy to be in this position’.
When asked if it was his most impressive MotoGP victory so far, the Spaniard denied: ‘I don’t think so. I think maybe Misano last season was huge. But for sure this win was really nice. We didn’t fight each other until the last lap I think, because I had this really small gap. So I don’t think it was my biggest race, but for sure it was one of the best’.
