Tim Gajser won yesterday’s second race of the MXGP of Patagonia Argentina. However, it was not enough to prevent Jorge Prado from winning the opening round of the MXGP World Championship.
The Slovenian from Team HRC, who had won the qualifying race the day before, took the lead of the second main race right from the first lap and never looked back. Throughout the 18 laps, Prado (Red Bull GasGas) was always Gajser’s main pursuer, who ultimately won with a 10.489s lead.
In third place was Romain Febvre (Kawasaki), who reached the position he finished in right from the second lap by overtaking the fourth-placed Pauls Jonass (Standing Construct Honda). The top five was rounded out by Jeremy Seewer (Kawasaki), who held that position from the start.
In the overall standings of the MXGP of Patagonia Argentina, Prado was the winner with 47 points – he won race 1 and finished second in race 2. Febvre finished second with five points less and only one more than Gajser – whose result in the first race prevented him from going further in the standings. Jonass and Maxime Renaux (Monster Energy Yamaha) completed the top five.
