Álex Rins was recently announced as a rider for Monster Energy Yamaha in MotoGP until 2026, renewing his contract for two more years after joining this season amid many challenges as the team strives to reach the desired level of competitiveness.
The Spaniard reacted to the confirmation in an interview with the official championship website: ‘I’m super happy about these news coming. Two more years in Monster Energy Yamaha. I want to say thanks to them – to all the staff here and in Iwata – for giving me the opportunity to continue with them, continue working’.
Yamaha is making progress, and Rins emphasized that these improvements are necessary: ‘We are in a phase right now that we need to improve the bike and we are doing a good job. Already from the first part of the season we did a step forward, so it will be amazing to continue working two more years with the same group of people. I’m happy’.
For the Spanish rider, the stability of staying with Yamaha is crucial for the project: ‘It’s so important, because you can continue with the work. I realized going from Suzuki to Honda and from Honda to Yamaha that in order to grow, to improve, you need to stay some years in the same team, because the things are not immediate – to bring new items and to improve the bike, it takes time. We are on the correct way, so it’s good’.
