The long race of the Thai GP was very lively from start to finish, with Marc Marquez being one of the protagonists of it. The HRC rider showed that even with his RC213V being below the competition, he can fight and finish inside the top 10.
The eldest of the Marquez brothers highlighted the consistency of the weekend, stating that at this moment it was, above all, what he was looking for:
– As on every weekend, with the hard rear tyre, the bike is more consistent, but we struggle a lot more with performance. We lost a lot of performance, especially the time difference and the way we rode it. Yesterday with the Sprint race we saw that the tyre wear was very high and today, I thought a lot about making a more aggressive decision and choosing the soft rear tyre, maybe it would be good, but in the end I decided to choose the same as everyone else and then try to control myself throughout the race. I was looking for a stable weekend, and we got that.
Marc Marquez also stated that he came out “hot” for today’s race, saying that the solution to defend himself was… attack:
– Today I went out and I was hot. I tried to attack at the beginning because I immediately realised that if I wasn’t attacking, every time I came out of Turn 1 or Turn 3, there was a bike that was going to overtake me, so I told myself that the only way to defend was to attack. So I started attacking. The way to attack with our bike is at the braking points and I was braking late at Turn 5 and Turn 12, but it wasn’t enough. We lost some time there with Aleix, with that fight, but then I found my rhythm and finished the race and that was the main goal.
