After the Hungarian GP, Red Bull’s patience ran out and Nyck de Vries was dismissed from AlphaTauri – ending his short stint in Formula 1 without any points in 2023.
The replacement was Daniel Ricciardo. Although Tom Coronel acknowledges that the Australian performed well as soon as he arrived, the veteran Dutchman believes that de Vries could have also done well if he had been given the time he needed:
– He performed immediately, but things could have also gone well for Nyck. He simply needed a little more time than he had. I am absolutely convinced that everything would have gone well for him. We must not forget that the car he had was a ‘toilet on wheels’.
