Tony Arbolino led the second practice session of the Moto2 Indian GP. This was the fastest session for the category on Friday at the Buddh International Circuit.
The first rider to lead was Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex), who, after the opening flying laps, was 0.225s ahead of Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex). The Thai rider later took the top spot on the timesheet, continuing his strong performance from P1.
With his third flying lap, Acosta returned to the front, pushing Chantra into second place. At this point, Jake Dixon (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex) was in third, but he would be overtaken by Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) and Sergio García (Pons Wegow Los40/Kalex).
With 17 minutes left, Acosta set the fastest lap of the day up to that point. Arbolino closed in by also lapping in the 1m52s range moments later. Ai Ogura (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) was the next man up in the lead, less than a quarter of an hour before the end.
The best lap times only came in the final minutes. Arbolino moved up to first and held onto it. Acosta improved but remained 0.065s behind. Ogura finished third, with Chantra in fourth and Dixon in fifth.
