After being at the top of his game in Moto2, the last few rounds haven’t been easy for Tony Arbolino, who hasn’t reached the podium in races for five rounds, something he believes could change soon at the Indian GP, thanks to his talent and the way he works.
Now with Moto2 preparing to make its debut in India, the rider is confident that he can achieve a good result since everyone starts on equal terms and individual talent will prevail, as he explained to Motosan: ‘I think that’s a big part of the problem. I don’t know if I’m going to be good or bad, I think I’m going to be good. But yes, we say that whoever has a bike that they know well, that doesn’t change much, has a bit of an advantage because they know how the bike reacts’.
He explained: ‘And when you don’t know the track, you know how the bike reacts and how to deal with it. Then it can go well or badly, but you know. And that’s a positive point’.
Asked what kind of rider he was – hard-working or talented – the italian replied: ‘I think both. Because, in the past, I’ve always done less. I’ve always gone with the talent and things have worked out well. Until there comes a time when you have to work, you have to understand. You have to question yourself and say: “Is this going well or do I need to improve something?” And then you use your work. But you already have the talent. And that’s where you improve, as a driver, as a person and as a professional’.
