Last weekend, Toprak Razgatlioglu won his first race in the World Superbike Championship with BMW. This marked the third different manufacturer with which he has stood on the top step of the podium.
After his debut in 2018, it was a year later that the Turkish rider clinched his first wins in WSBK – at Magny-Cours, riding a Kawasaki for Puccetti Racing. In 2020, he moved to the factory Yamaha team and started the season winning at Phillip Island.
Now, racing for ROKiT BMW, Razgatlioglu only needed two rounds to claim his first victory with the Bavarian manufacturer – which he achieved in the first race at Barcelona last Saturday. This accomplishment puts him in a group of just six riders in the history of WSBK.
We’re talking about the six riders who have managed to win races with at least three different manufacturers. Alongside Razgatlioglu, this feat has also been achieved by riders like Anthony Gobert, Chaz Davies, Troy Corser, and Marco Melandri – who won with four different manufacturers. Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha), who already won with Honda and Kawasaki, could join this group of riders in 2024.
Riders who have won WSBK races with three or more manufacturers:
- Anthony Gobert (Bimota, Ducati, and Kawasaki)
- Chaz Davies (Aprilia, BMW, and Ducati)
- Eugene Laverty (Aprilia, Suzuki, and Yamaha)
- Marco Melandri (Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, and Yamaha)
- Stéphane Mertens (Bimota, Ducati, and Honda)
- Troy Corser (Aprilia, Ducati, and Suzuki)
