The Dakar has officially kicked off, and on this first day, reserved for the Prologue, Toscha Schareina was the fastest.
The Monster Energy Honda Team rider took 17m35s to complete the 27km special stage in a 157km prologue that started and finished in Alula.
Daniel Sanders (Red Bull GASGAS) took 12s longer than his opponent, in second, while Ross Branch (Hero Motorsports) finished on the podium in third, 19s behind the #68.
Adrien Van Beveren (Monster Energy Honda Team) was fourth, ahead of Luciano Benavides (Husqvarna), who rounded off the top five.
