Triumph Motorcycles announces new features and improvements for the 2024 Tiger 1200 models, resulting in an even more advanced and refined range. The updates include additional engine improvements, greater comfort and ergonomics, increased ground clearance when cornering, a further reduction in seat height thanks to active preload reduction and new colors.
Triumph’s 1,160 cc three-cylinder engine now offers an even more refined riding experience and superior control at low speeds, while retaining the thrilling and unmistakable character of the T-Plane engine configuration.
Changes made by the Triumph engineering team to the crankshaft, alternator rotor and balance shaft to increase engine inertia, plus certain adjustments associated with engine calibration, result in smoother and more precise torque delivery at low revs. Riders will feel a smoother sensation when accelerating or decelerating, especially at low speeds. The updated clutch design will also allow riders to experience a smoother feel, especially when shifting into first gear.
Triumph has also improved the comfort of the Tiger 1200 for long-distance riders. The engine itself is now even smoother and more refined, thanks to a revised engine balance strategy that improves comfort at all the main points of contact with the rider.
The anti-vibration handlebars and towers, which worked so well on the Explorer models, have now been introduced on the GT Pro and Rally Pro models, as well as providing a smoother ride with greater visibility in the mirrors.
The driver’s seat has been redesigned with a flatter profile, providing more space for the driver and helping to reduce fatigue on longer journeys. The low seat available as an accessory, which reduces the seat position by 20 mm to 830 mm on GT models and 855 mm on Rally models, has also been redesigned to be significantly more comfortable. In addition, a longer clutch lever has been incorporated, which offers greater clearance for the rider’s fingers and increases comfort, especially on longer journeys.
On the Tiger 1200 GT Pro and GT Explorer models, Triumph has also increased cornering ground clearance by raising the position of the footpegs and repositioning them closer to the bike’s axle. Meanwhile, the new electronic height adjustment feature, launched in August 2023 and which can be activated by pressing the ‘Home’ button on the right hand grip for a second, offers greater confidence to the rider by reducing the preload on the rear suspension when the Tiger 1200 slows to a stop, lowering the height of the rear seat by up to 20 mm to facilitate better support of the feet on the ground.
The 2024 Tiger 1200 family is now made up of four variants, with new colors: the Tiger 1200 GT Pro and GT Explorer, designed especially for road adventures, are now available in an attractive Carnival Red, in addition to the previous Snowdonia White and Sapphire Black color schemes; while the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro and Rally Explorer, perfect for off-road adventures, will be available in the new Matt Sandstorm and Jet Black color schemes, joining the popular Matt Khaki.
The first 2024 Tiger 1200 units will arrive on the Portuguese market in the second half of March 2024 and orders can already be placed through the official Triumph dealer network.
