Fans of the British brand’s maxi-trail can enjoy an even more accessible bike at the push of a button to adjust the suspension preload at low speed.
The Tiger 1200’s unique performance and handling, together with its high level of comfort and standard equipment, as well as the unparalleled character of the 1,160 cc T-Plane three-cylinder engine with 150 hp at 9,000 rpm have made the British maxi-trail a benchmark in the segment. A family of Adventure bikes that offers the best of both worlds, adapting to the type of adventure each rider is looking for, and which has now received a software update that allows electronic height adjustment, not only on new units but also, free of charge, on those already on the road. Steve Sargent, Product Manager at Triumph Motorcycles, said: “This new function can be activated on the move, lowering the center of gravity when traveling at low speeds to make it even more accessible and offer riders more confidence at low speeds and better contact with the ground when coming to a stop.”
The Tiger 1200s, in their GT, GT Pro and GT Explorer versions (with which Ivan Cervantes broke the record for the longest distance traveled on a motorcycle in 24 hours), are bikes capable of going anywhere in the world in absolute comfort and offer two seat height adjustments as standard: 850 mm and 870 mm. For their part, the Rally Pro and Rally Explorer models, more geared towards off-road adventures, have a seat height adjustment of 875 mm and 895 mm. However, thanks to the low seat option available as an accessory, users can reduce this height by a further 20 mm (830 mm on the GT and 855 mm on the Rally).
The new Triumph software update (Active Preload Reduction Function) allows you to reduce the preload and thus reduce the seat height even further. Depending on the combined weight of the rider, passenger and luggage, the riding height can be reduced by up to 20 mm when the motorcycle comes to a stop, offering the rider greater comfort and confidence. Thus, anyone who gets a Tiger 1200 will be able to access this new electronic height adjustment function by simply pressing the “Home” button on the right-hand switch block for one second.
In addition, all owners who already have a Tiger 1200 in Portugal can also enjoy these improvements free of charge when they go to their official dealer for their next service (every 16,000 kms or one year, whichever comes first). Owners who need to activate the new height reduction function as soon as possible can do so by requesting an appointment at their official Triumph dealer’s workshop.
