The Misano circuit will host two MotoGP Grands Prix this year, with the addition of the Emilia-Romagna GP to replace the canceled Kazakhstan and India rounds. This unusual situation of repeating the same track on the calendar has not occurred since the 2020 and 2021 seasons, when numerous adjustments were necessary due to the pandemic.
Marc Márquez acknowledges that having two GPs at the same venue is not ideal for the championship but understands the decision:
– Of course two GPs on the same track is not the best for the championship, but it was easiest plan – or the most comfortable plan – for the team, and I completely agree.
The Gresini rider believes the Emilia-Romagna GP could be particularly challenging: ‘It’s a good circuit and in Misano 2 especially we will be on the lap record already in the FP1, so it will be very tough’.
By including the second Misano round, Dorna ensured a calendar with 20 Grands Prix, avoiding significant costs, logistical challenges, and travel burdens for the teams before the Asian leg of the season. After the San Marino GP, the paddock remains in Misano not only for a test day but also for the second GP at the circuit two weeks later.
