Charles Leclerc was not far from the pole position in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of Formula 1. The Ferrari driver will start in second place, being beaten only by Max Verstappen (Red Bull) in Saturday’s qualifying at Yas Marina.
The Monegasque admitted that it was an unexpected result, but he foresees some difficulties in Sunday’s race: ‘I am really happy with my lap, and qualifying on the front row is not something we expected today. It is not the ideal track for us and considering the high temperatures, it can be complicated tomorrow’.
That being said, Leclerc promised maximum effort to achieve the desired goal: ‘Our main objective is to obtain second place in the constructors’ championship. We will give everything to finish the season on a high note’.
