Floyd Vanwall Racing will have considerable news in its project in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2024. The Vandervell 680 Le Mans Hypercar will undergo several changes, including the engine supplier.
After using a non-hybrid V8 Gibson 4.5-liter naturally aspirated unit, the British team will have another solution. Manager Colin Kolles confirmed it to Motorsport.com, without specifying the manufacturer: ‘We can say that we will change the engine for the next season. It will be a turbo and it is a proven engine with sufficient power and good reliability – it is not an experiment in any sense’.
At this time, it is not certain that Vanwall Racing will be able to maintain its place in the field, with the expected increase in interest in the Hypercar class – with the entry of new manufacturers (Alpine and BMW) and possibly with a customer car from Ferrari. Kolles believes in their presence: ‘We will see, but we comply with all regulations’.
