The Superpole race in the World Superbike Championship at Jerez was far from good for Alex Lowes, who found himself involved in an crash with Toprak Razgatlioglu and was forced to retire.
The British rider from Kawasaki was in front of his rival, and the Turkish rider from Pata Yamaha overtook him on the way to turn one. He placed his bike right next to the front wheel of Lowes, who was taken by surprise and couldn’t avoid making contact with the rear wheel of the YZF-R1 with his head.
The crash resulted in a fall and damage to the visor of the helmet, but #22 escaped potentially serious injuries in a bizarre incident that could have had much graver consequences.
