Chase Briscoe recently had a conversation with Tony Stewart about his move to JGR. Prior to the Cup race in New Hampshire, there was an accidental slip-up where it was confirmed that Briscoe, current driver for Stewart Haas Racing, has signed with JGR for the 2024 season. This agreement was officially signed during the race weekend in Sonoma, but the announcement was delayed to ensure that all other issues were in order. During the announcement event, Briscoe spoke with the press about how he informed his boss, Tony Stewart, about the agreement. Briscoe called Stewart after signing the contract and expressed his gratitude for the opportunities given to him, while also sharing the news of his move to JGR. Stewart was surprised by the decision but expressed excitement for Briscoe’s future in a championship-worthy seat for the 2025 season. Briscoe mentioned that his SHR team is also happy for him and some may consider joining him at JGR. However, due to JGR already having a solid team for their Toyota No:19, the number of SHR employees making the move may be limited. It will be interesting to see how many SHR employees will remain in the Cup series next season.
