Darryn Binder’s hopes of achieving his best result so far in Moto2 were dashed by a crash during Sunday’s Italian GP race at Mugello.
The South African was in contention for a podium finish when, with seven laps to go, he lost control at Arrabbiata 1, went into the gravel, and crashed at high speed.
Although he emerged unscathed, Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was forced to retire from the race, missing out on what could have been his best Moto2 finish to date – his previous best being a sixth-place finish in Argentina last year.
