The unusual incident occurred during the Moto3 race at the Americas GP. Iván Ortolá and Stefano Nepa were involved in a standard crash, but what followed was anything but ordinary.
The incident took place at turn 15 and was triggered by Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM), who ended up colliding with Nepa (LevelUp MTA/KTM) in the process.
Both riders got up without any physical issues. In his eagerness to resume racing, Ortolá hurried to get to his bike… only to realize it wasn’t his. Nepa quickly approached the scene, informing his rival of the mistake.
It’s an understandable error, considering that following the crash, Nepa ended up lying next to Ortolá’s bike. Watch or rewatch the situation below.
