Today in New York City, Williams unveiled the car that Thai racer Alex Albon and American driver Logan Sargeant will compete with. The car’s 2024 design pays homage to the team’s remarkable history in Formula 1.
James Vowles, the Team Principal of Williams Racing, expressed the significance of revealing the 2024 livery in the iconic city of New York. The development of the FW46 has been the team’s main focus for several months, with a tremendous effort from everyone at Grove to deliver a competitive car for this season.
With the aim of building on the success of the previous season, Williams Racing has formed a strong driver lineup in Alex and Logan. These drivers have the capability to consistently fight for points and contribute to the team’s future development.
Reflecting on the team’s progress, Vowles highlighted the challenges they have overcome and their achievement of seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship. This accomplishment has laid the foundation for the team’s future growth.
Williams Racing is committed to further strengthening the team on and off the track. This includes enhancing their infrastructure, investing in their personnel, and forming partnerships with outstanding companies such as Komatsu.
While acknowledging that there is still a long way to go, Vowles emphasized the importance of the support from fans, partners, and the entire team at Grove HQ in creating new history for the iconic Williams team. Success will require time and collective effort, and Vowles eagerly anticipates the upcoming season and what it holds for the team.
Expected to take charge of Williams in 2024, Albon expressed his anticipation for the upcoming year: “Following a highly positive season, we aim to build upon our progress in 2024, striving to make significant advancements in performance.
“We have demanded a great deal from the team and the factory to ensure the car reaches its full potential. Additionally, we have slightly altered the car’s philosophy, and I am curious to see if we can enhance some of its longstanding characteristics. Although this will require a modification in driving style, I am confident it will result in positive change.”
Having to prove himself to Vowles and the team after a challenging debut season in F1, Sargeant stated: “After revealing this impressive livery, I am eager to get behind the wheel of the FW46 and continue my development as a driver.
“I have had a productive off-season, allowing me to prepare physically and mentally for the upcoming year. Taking the time to reflect on my rookie season, I have learned valuable lessons and gained experience that will only benefit me as I enter this new season.
“I am well aware of my objectives for this year. I intend to build upon the progress I have made since joining the Williams Racing family and contribute even more to the team’s success. The entire Grove team has worked tirelessly to deliver the FW46 during the winter break.
“I am immensely grateful for their hard work and the support they have provided me. Hopefully, together, we can achieve remarkable results in 2024,” Sargeant expressed.
