VW has just announced that the artificial intelligence (AI) technology of ChatGPT is now available in a large number of brand models.
The new AI search tool is available in all new models equipped with the next-generation infotainment system, that is, in all new vehicles of the ID electric family, such as the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7, as well as the refreshed Tiguan, Golf, and Passat.
Access to the new technology is done through the virtual assistant IDA, which offers a range of new options that go far beyond the previously available voice control.
In this way, users can interact with the vehicle using natural language to access information about tourist attractions, receive sports results, or solve mathematical problems, all without the driver needing to take their eyes off the road.
VW reminds that this new technology never has access to vehicle data, and that the questions and answers made by users to ChatGPT are immediately deleted to ensure optimal data protection.
Furthermore, the online voice assistant can be disabled in the VW app settings or in the privacy settings of the infotainment system.
“By seamlessly integrating ChatGPT into our voice assistant, we are now offering drivers the opportunity to use this artificial intelligence on a daily basis, highlighting how innovative our products are,”, said Kai Grünitz, member of the VW Board of Directors.
