Fabio Quartararo ended Friday in 8th place overall. The French rider qualified for Q2 and was motivated for the weekend, despite the initial difficulties during the first laps of the new Indian circuit.
Asked about the problems he had during the morning, Fabio replied: “We had a lot of difficulties during the first 9 laps. First we had a lot of issues with grip, then finding the best trajectory, but overall it was positive to end up in Q2. We broke two gearboxes in 9 laps, so I think we’ve tested enough. The weight (of the gearbox) is undoubtedly better, but in terms of performance I don’t notice any difference.
After the difficulties in the first few laps Fabio Quartaro spoke about his expectations for the rest of the weekend and gave his opinion on the new circuit.
– ‘ At turn 1 it’s very difficult to find a braking reference, at 5 and 6 we have to be very precise in the transition, at 8 and 9, the turn is very long and it’s very difficult to find the ideal trajectory, and finally at 12 it’s also demanding because we can’t see the turn. For me, finding an ideal braking reference is difficult because I listen a lot to the bike to do it, but now that we haven’t done so many laps it was difficult for me to do it, but we did a good job overall. I think tomorrow Ducati will develop a lot with the 8 bikes they have, we have to be very smart with the tire pressure and all the management they require, so we’ll see how it goes, it was a positive day but it’s only Friday.’
