Marco Bezzecchi had the opportunity to join Prima Pramac for the 2024 MotoGP season, where he could have ridden the latest version of the Ducati Desmosedici. However, he chose to stay with the VR46 Racing Team for a third season, aware that he would have this year’s version of the bike.
Uccio Salucci, team director, didn’t hide his pride in the Italian rider’s decision and revealed to Corriere dello Sport how Bezzecchi justified it:
– When Marco was mentioned for a Ducati GP24 and he preferred to stay with us knowing he’d have a GP23, his choice made me proud. We could have kept him by exercising the option in our favor, but we wanted the choice to be his. He told me: «The value of the group formed in two years is greater than the difference between my bike and the factory bikes». The new contract is only for one year, so it won’t become an issue anyway.
