Trackhouse Racing made its debut this year in MotoGP as a satellite team of Aprilia. Their riders are Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández, who, after four rounds, are pleasing the Americans.
Team principal Davide Brivio spoke to PecinoGP and made two things clear – the happiness with the current riders and Trackhouse Racing’s status regarding Aprilia: ‘We don’t want to be the junior team. But if there’s an interesting young rider one day, we can hire him – but get him for us, because we plan to make him grow. Like maybe it was at Suzuki when we got [Maverick] Viñales, [Joan] Mir, [Álex] Rins – we got them to make them grow. Now for example, we have Raúl, we have Miguel, we are happy with them’.
The Italian then said: ‘If Raúl grows and becomes strong – Raúl would be the young one, let’s say – Massimo [Rivola, Aprilia Racing CEO] and I have to discuss whether I should give him to him or keep him. In other words, if he is strong, I would be happy to have him. Miguel is already a seasoned rider’.
On the other hand, Brivio emphasized that Trackhouse Racing aspires to achieve good results and Aprilia doesn’t necessarily see them as a rival: ‘We would also like to have our joys, our results, and in this, we are in line with Aprilia and also with Massimo – we have been talking, and he agrees too, because for Aprilia, it is enough if one Aprilia wins. If an Aprilia is doing well, whether it’s white or black doesn’t make a difference’.
