Jorge Martín secured pole position for the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix. On his very first attempt in Q2, he set a new lap record at Mugello, beating Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by 0.043s.
In his interview with the official broadcast, the Prima Pramac Racing rider began by discussing the efforts made to address the issues he faced in yesterday’s afternoon practice:
– For sure it feels really good. We worked quite a lot yesterday evening not on the set-up, but more on the electronics as I said. I was struggling to find that grip. I think also the tyre was a little bit better, and also the electronics.
Regarding the qualifying session, Martín commented: ‘Overall we had this amazing lap time, 1m44.5s is amazing. In the second run I was coming hot, but then Marc [Márquez] crashed, so I lost a bit the focus, but it was also a good lap’.
As for the races, the Spaniard made a prediction: ‘I think for tomorrow we are strong. Today it will be a tough race because the pace is super fast, but let’s see what we can achieve’.
