Last year, Aprilia had a satellite team in MotoGP for the first time, known as RNF Racing. However, the project did not yield the expected results and ended on a complicated note with controversy surrounding the team itself.
Aprilia Racing’s CEO, Massimo Rivola, explained to the press that mistakes were made by both parties: ‘I think we have to respect what the previous team did because it was also our first year having a satellite team. So I’m sure we also made some mistakes. It’s always two parts together. If they don’t get along, there is also some fault of both sides’.
The new chapter for Aprilia’s satellite team is now with the American Trackhouse Racing, and Rivola emphasized the significance of the nationality: ‘It was a big opportunity and from the performance point of view, from marketing and commercial point of view, from brand point of view, having an American team is unique’.
