Joan Mir started the MotoGP pre-season tests with the 13th time yesterday in Losail. The Repsol Honda rider felt improvements, with Monday being heavily focused on the aerodynamics of the RC213V.
The 2020 champion stated to the press: ‘Overall it was a good testing day. We’ve been able to confirm a lot of things, we improved a little bit the aerodynamics, so that makes me happy. I was able to ride quite comfortable, with used medium tyres we were able to make not bad lap times. With 20 laps I was able to be in mid 1m53s – that is something very good. I improved until the last run, my best lap was with a tyre with 20 laps; this is great. Then we worked a little bit on the aerodynamics, we improved a bit, I feel a bit better. Then on the electronics side, when we change the aerodynamics we have to modify a lot the electronics normally. And this is what I think we are a bit out at the moment; we have to adjust, to push on that last tenth and adjust a bit everything’.
For the last day of testing, Mir hopes to work more on himself and the details: ‘We have another day and we will try a little bit more. We don’t have much things to try honestly, so maybe we can focus a bit more on myself, on the small details and to prepare everything’.
