Thomas Preining was this year’s DTM champion and, in early November, was called by Porsche to test their 963 LMDh for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Sakhir. A future in this championship is not ruled out by the 25-year-old driver.
The Austrian’s performance was not very indicative, as he focused mainly on working with a lot of fuel and long distances during his 82 laps. Nevertheless, he came close to what regular driver Laurens Vanthoor was able to do in the few laps he completed in order to find a baseline setup for the car.
To Motorsport.com, Preining did not reject a future in WEC with Porsche in 2025: ‘I can definitely imagine that. We haven’t talked about my future yet. […]. Definitely, the test was something I was interested in. Of course, it is also one of my dreams to compete and try to win at Le Mans and Daytona. This is the path to follow, for sure’.
