Maverick Viñales recently achieved his first victory with Aprilia in MotoGP, accomplishing the feat of winning with three different manufacturers. Since 2021, he has been seeking to build a successful chapter in his career with the Noale manufacturer, and so far, he’s succeeding.
Sylvain Guintoli spoke about the Spaniard on TNT Sports, recalling the sour ending of his journey with Yamaha in mid-2021 – after a promising stint with Suzuki:
– I like what I see with Maverick and Aprilia. When he was at Suzuki he got his first victory at Silverstone, then he was signed by Yamaha to lead their effort in MotoGP. He was so fast, unbelievable in winter testing, but it never materialised. It ended in tears.
The Frenchman believes Viñales is unique and, with Aprilia, the fruits of the risk taken are starting to show: ‘When he was picked up by Aprilia, I thought it was a gamble but it’s starting to pay off. The confidence is there. Maverick, mentally, can be up and down. He’s a character, he’s unique, the only guy like that’.
