Francesco Bagnaia secured the MotoGP world championship for the second consecutive time, a feat achieved only by Valentino Rossi and Marc Márquez in the last 21 years. To achieve this, he outperformed Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in a tightly contested battle until the very end.
Álex Crivillé highlighted the Italian’s mental strength in this fight, stating to the newspaper Marca: ‘Pecco’s mentality, combined with his ease in managing each race and the consistency he displayed throughout the championship, allowed him to be crowned as the MotoGP world champion for the second time. Pecco was very smart in every moment, both on and off the track; he knew how to impose his strategy flawlessly. The Italian is a very complete rider, despite not having a very aggressive style, he knows how to play his cards and, most importantly, he knows how to read what his opponents do. I believe he won this championship because of that ability he has. He never loses his nerve in any situation, no matter how complicated, he’s fast, consistent, and can manage any race perfectly. I think that’s the secret to Pecco’s success. Without making much noise, he already has three world titles in his pocket’.
In the final standings, Bagnaia clinched the title with a 39-point lead over Martín, a battle that only concluded with the Spaniard’s crash in the Valencia GP.
