Brad Binder is currently in seventh place in the MotoGP World Championship, two positions behind Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) – who, despite being a rookie and in a satellite team, is the best KTM rider at this time.
Although he has never missed the top ten, the Red Bull KTM rider has been performing below his capabilities and goals of fighting closer to the top – he hasn’t returned to the podium since his second place in the season opener in Qatar. Nonetheless, Hubert Trunkenpolz has no doubts about the South African’s potential.
The KTM director told GPOne.com: ‘In 2024 we haven’t frequently seen the true potential of Brad Binder. His current seventh place in the World Championship hides his true capabilities. Brad has had the bad luck of three crashes this season; otherwise, he would be fourth in the standings. That’s where he belongs’.
Trunkenpolz emphasized that their ambitions go far beyond the top four: ‘These discussions are not helpful because we really want to be at the top of the world championship and not settle for fourth place. Winning is our ambition, and we are clearly working towards that’.
