An unusual concept has been approved for the new season of the Supersport, Supersport 300, and Women’s World Championship (WorldWCR): the first race will serve to define part of the starting grid for the second race of each round.
The most unusual aspect is how this will happen. It will not be the absolute positions that count, but rather the lap times: the first nine positions of the starting grid will be established based on the fastest lap times in Race 1.
This is one of the new format changes for 2024. As we have already reported, WSSP and WSSP300 will only have one free practice session, with Superpole moving to Friday, and warm-ups taking place before the races on Saturday and Sunday. The same applies to WorldWCR, making its debut.
