Xavi Vierge has undergone surgery on his right forearm, taking advantage of the extended break before the Portimão round of the World Superbike Championship to address an arm pump issue.
The Spanish rider from Team HRC faced significant difficulties due to his physical condition at the Donington Park and Most rounds. Upon returning to Barcelona, he sought medical advice at the Dexeus University Hospital.
The decision was made to proceed with surgery, which was successfully performed by Dr. Xavier Mir this Thursday. Vierge will now have about two weeks to recover before the Portimão round, scheduled for August 9 to 11.
The WSBK season has been challenging for Vierge. After six rounds, the Spaniard is 17th in the championship, with three tenth place finishes being his best results. He is ahead of his teammate, Iker Lecuona, who missed two rounds due to injury.
