Yamaha left Portugal with both of their riders inside the points: Fabio Quartararo was 7th and Álex Rins 13th with Massimo Meregalli to consider it was a ‘tough race’ and that the manufacturer can’t be happy with what happened on track.
The Team Director of the japanese showed his unhappiness with the overall results: ‘It was a tough Race. In the end, Fabio is in the top 7 and Álex scored his first points, but this was mostly due to the late race incidents. Our riders gave it their best shot, and every point counts, but we can’t be satisfied with our overall performance level during this Race’.
Also it is important to recall that Quartararo, main face of the team, said that Yamaha is still very far from the opponents and, despite apparently been giving steps in the right direction to get closer to the competition, everything is taking way to long.
The french is 11th in the overall standings with 15 points added, while Rins is 18th with 3 points.
