Miguel Oliveira has arrived at a circuit where he has already been very happy. The Portuguese rider has been in the spotlight at the Montmeló circuit in recent years, with wins, podiums and most recently fifth place last season for RNF Aprilia.
Speaking to SportTV, Oliveira spoke about his expectations for the weekend in Barcelona.
– It’s a circuit where I adapt quite well, perhaps because it’s a track with very fluid trajectories, but the truth is that for some reason I’ve always been competitive here. The approach will be more or less the same, of course coming to a circuit where we’ve been fast before is always good, but we’ve got our feet firmly on the ground and it’s about starting to “break rocks” from the first practice session and getting a good understanding of the conditions and the bike, that’s our goal. The aim is to get through to Q2, so we hope to achieve that.
Asked about his future and Aleix Espargaró’s retirement at the end of the season, Miguel replied: ‘I’m quite relaxed about my future, I know that Aprilia’s priority is to give priority to the riders they have at the moment. Yes, I’ve had conversations with other teams. I shouldn’t say anything, we’ve always done everything transparently, demonstrating our willingness and seriousness towards Aprilia and Trackhouse. What I can say is that I’m very calm about my future and that I know my value to the paddock.
